With age, “harmful” substances AGEs (products of the glycation reaction) accumulate in the skin as a result of the glycation reaction (interaction of glucose with collagen fiber proteins). They slow down metabolic processes in the skin, the skin no longer receives enough nutrients and oxygen, collagen fibers are damaged. All this leads to the formation of wrinkles.
